How were Regional Lead Agencies selected?
The EWIG Planning Team reviewed all of the applications and selected the Regional Lead Agencies by prioritizing the following criteria:
Demonstrated experience in leading regional CS Professional Learning
Staffing capacity to lead regional CS Professional Learning
Demonstrated ability to partner with other agencies (COEs, Districts, Schools, etc.) to lead regional professional learning
Demonstrated experience with regional community building and plans to grow regional CS education communities
Sustainability plans beyond March 2024 (the end of the EWIG Project)
Organizational Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
How much funding will a Regional Lead Agency (RLA) receive?
$140,000 during the grant term that ends in March 2024. There will be a contract that will outline the quarterly invoicing and payment schedule.
What expenses are allowable with the CS Regional Lead Agency Funding?
Staffing
Travel and registration for required in-person convenings
Sub-agreements for Co-COE Lead Agencies for the same types of expenses outlined above
What is that anticipated staffing FTE needed to support this project?
.5 - .75 FTE, which may include management, certificated, and classified staff. This estimation is for each year of the contract, through March 2024. In other words, we anticipate 20-30 hours of work time per week on this project beginning in the Autumn of 2022 through March 2024.
What is expected of a Computer Science Regional Lead Agency?
Serve as the leader within your region for implementing a regional Summer of CS offering during the Summer of 2023.
Participate in monthly meetings via zoom
Join us for our in-person planning time at the California STEAM Symposium (9/30/22-10/2/22)
Execute the Summer of CS 2023 based on the plans developed with support from the EWIG Planning Team
Collect necessary data and reporting information for sharing with the EWIG Planning Team on a quarterly basis
What is the purpose of the Computer Science Regional Lead Agency Monthly Meetings?
These meetings are intended to support the Regional Lead Agencies in developing their regional plans to execute their 2023 Summer of CS.
What are the dates and times for the Computer Science Regional Lead Agency Monthly Meetings?
Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month from 9am-12pm.
Who will be responsible for leading the professional development as part of the 2023 Summer of CS?
The EWIG Planning Team will work with each Regional Lead Agency to identify professional learning providers that will lead the various workshops. The professional learning providers will contract directly with the EWIG Planning Team for payment for their services.
Is there funding available for recruitment events in Winter and Spring?
For those of you interested in developing Winter and Spring offerings for your region, we have available up to $4,000 per region for supplies (stipends, travel expenses, and food are not allowable expenses). Reimbursements for these allowable expenses can be invoiced to Yadira after the event, by the end of the corresponding quarter. It is worth noting that the grant is not able to provide stipends to participants in promotional events leading up to the Summer of CS. There is no stipend/cost defray available for Winter or Spring.
How should RLAs handle registration for Winter and Spring events?
The planning team will work with regions that are hosting promotional events to co-develop registration systems that ensure we capture all the data required by the grant.
