Considering Evaluation

Evaluation should be considered throughout the process of developing your event, so that you can work backwards from the data that will be analyzed in order to meet your goals and the goals of the program. Oftentimes, the implementation of a CSPDWeek model like the Summer of CS is evaluated by an external evaluator. For the 2021 EWIG:CS grant, the Kapor Center is serving as the external evaluator. For the 2023 EWIG:CS grant, AIR is serving as the external evaluator.

For 2021, the evaluation is aligned with the CAPE (Capacity, Access, Participation, and Experience) framework.

The following spreadsheet details the EWIG Evaluation Plan. These forms of evaluation are essential tools to collect information that demonstrates the impact of Seasons of CS.

EWIG Evaluation Plan

As a CS Champion, please be sure to answer feedback forms and surveys, as they help shape the design of the program and ensure we better serve educators. Data collected from feedback surveys, as well as content from external evaluation, is also useful in preparing reports to grantors.

Please also encourage participants to take part in evaluation. Data collection activities are described in the school level agreement as an integral part of taking part of the Seasons of CS program. In addition, submitting the workshop, academic year workshop, and community of practice surveys are tied to the financial incentive. Participants can receive additional financial incentives by taking part in the focus groups.
